Annual leave in Morocco: days, seniority and pay

Wadifa Info · updated 31 October 2026 · Also in French and Arabic

In short: employees in Morocco earn 1.5 working days of paid leave per month, or 18 a year, after 6 months of service. Each 5 years of service adds 1.5 days, up to 30 days in total. Unused leave is paid in cash when the contract ends.

How many days of annual leave?

1.5 days per month worked, or 18 working days a year after 6 months of service. Employees under 18 get 2 days a month.

Does seniority add days?

Yes: 1.5 extra days for each 5 years of service, with an overall cap of 30 days.

Can leave be lost?

Dates are agreed with the employer, and leave can be split or carried over two years. When the contract ends, the balance is paid in cash.

What leave applies to family events?

Marriage gives 4 days (article 274) and a birth gives 3 days. Leave for a death depends on the relationship. Under article 276, this leave is paid only to employees paid by the month. Others get at least 2 paid days for their own marriage and 1 paid day for the death of a spouse, parent or child, unless the contract or collective agreement is more generous.

Public holidays are separate: see the list of paid holidays.
