What is the SMIG?
The SMIG (salaire minimum interprofessionnel garanti) is the legal minimum wage in the non-farm private sector. It is set by decree, and no contract can pay less (Labour Code, articles 356 to 361). The word SMIC, often used for Morocco, is the French term. The farm equivalent is the SMAG.
Did the SMIG rise to MAD 3,500 in July 2026?
No. We checked the contents of the Official Bulletin from no. 7515 (June 2026) to no. 7548 (September 2026) on 12 October 2026. No new decree changes the minimum wage, and the MAD 3,500 figure appears in no official text we read. A rise applies only once a decree is published.
What is the net minimum wage?
The employee pays 4.48% CNSS and 2.26% AMO, and no income tax at this level: 3,422.72 − 153.34 − 77.35 = about MAD 3,192 a month. Employer costs are on the contributions page.
What is the SMAG in agriculture?
MAD 97.44 a day from 1 April 2026, or about MAD 2,533 a month over 26 working days.
