Hiring a foreign employee in Morocco: the work permit (Taechir)
Wadifa Info · updated 28 October 2026 · Also in French and Arabic
In short: to employ a foreign national, the employer gets a permit by having a foreign-employee work contract stamped (visa), prepared on the Taechir platform (taechir.travail.gov.ma). Key documents: form (V), the signed contract, the employee's passport and diplomas, an ANAPEC certificate showing no Moroccan candidate is available (unless exempt) and the company's legal documents. Free, processed in 10 days.
What is the work permit (Taechir)?
Any employer in Morocco who wants to hire a foreign employee must obtain an authorisation, granted by stamping a work contract reserved for foreigners (model set by Order 1356.19 of the Minister of Labour, 19 April 2019), under Book IV of the Labour Code (Law 65.99). The file is prepared on the Taechir platform; the permit is issued by the Taechir desks of the regional directorates of Labour and Professional Integration and at Casablanca Finance City.
First application: basic documents
- form (V) listing the documents, generated on Taechir;
- the foreign employee's work contract generated on the platform, signed by employee and employer (full name, position, company stamp and address);
- the employee's diplomas and/or work experience; a copy of a valid passport;
- an original certificate of activity from ANAPEC (the national employment agency) stating that no Moroccan candidate is available for the job;
- the employer's legal documents: trade register extract (model 7), articles of association and appointment minutes as applicable, or the national ID card and proof of address for the employer of a domestic worker.
Who is exempt from the ANAPEC certificate?
The official sheet lists categories for which the employer provides other supporting documents instead, including: foreigners born and lawfully resident in Morocco; spouses of Moroccan nationals; family reunification; employees resident for more than 10 years; managers and company officers; staff seconded by a parent company; refugees and stateless persons; artists (with national police authorisation); coaches and athletes (licence from their federation); employees of Casablanca Finance City companies; and up to 5 foreign executives in offshoring companies.
Renewal and changing employer
Renewal with the same employer: form (V), the new contract from the platform, the ANAPEC certificate, a recent CNSS certificate showing contributions paid for the last three months, a copy of the residence card (and of the passport if renewed).
Changing employer: roughly the same documents, plus a letter confirming early termination of the previous contract or a court judgment in case of dispute, and the new employer's legal documents.
Cost and processing time
Free, with a processing time of 10 days according to the official procedure sheet. The employee then needs a residence card showing the authorised activity.
